Points of Interest
- Cooper's Rock State Forest is located off Route 48. A scenic area
for vacationers, campers, and fishermen with an overlook to view the 1200
ft. deep Cheat River Gorge. Phone: 594-1561
- Henry Clay Iron Furnace was built in 1834-36. The furnace is representative
of the iron smelting industry of its day. Located in Cooper's Rock State
Forest.
- Forks-of-Cheat Baptist Church was formed in 1775. This church was the first
denomination of Christians west of the Allegheny Mountains. Located
one and one half miles off 119 near Stewartstown.
- Covered Bridge at Dent's Run is the only remaining covered bridge in the county.
Located three miles west of Laurel Point on Route 43. take U.S. 19 S
to Fairmont.
- Cheat Lake is a fourteen-mile long lake. Located just off of Interstate 68.
- Morgantown Public Library has approximately 60,000 volumes with a
circulation of 200-300 books per day. Located at 373 Spruce Street, it
features an audiovisual center, children's library and toy lending library.

- Monongalia Court House was constructed in 1891. All county administrative
offices are housed here. The original two-story building of red brick
is topped by the official town clock which was recently renovated. Located

- Morgantown Area Chamber of Commerce
is located at 1009 University Avenue, and is open Mon. - Fri. from 9
a.m. to 5 p.m. The Chamber of Commerce is the central information center

- The Old Stone House is the oldest stone dwelling in Monongalia County. It
has been restored as a Craft shop. The Morgantown Service League operates

- The Personal Rapid Transit System (PRT) is operated by WVU,
and when in operation, serves 5 million passengers a year. The system

- The Cook-Hayman Pharmaceutical Museum is a distinctive replica of
a 19th Century Pharmacy. Located on the Evansdale Campus in the Medical
Center of WVU.
- The Monongalia Arts Center (MAC), founded in 1976, is located in the former
Post Office Building in downtown Morgantown. The building is listed
in the National Register of Historical Places. The Center houses the
Benedum Arts Gallery and offers multidimensional programs for children

- New Mountaineer Field is situated on the Evansdale Campus flanked
from the northeast by WVU Medical Center
and from the west by the Law Center. The stadium's seating capacity
is approximately 60,000 providing each ticket holder a prime seat.
- The Coliseum is a domed structure that seats 14,000. Athletic and
other University related functions are held here. The newly constructed
natatorium is directly behind the Coliseum, and the newly constructed
Shell indoor recreation center sits to the side of the Coliseum. Located
